There are over 500,000 apps available on Google Play, and it can be a pain to sort through them all. To make your life easier, we’re going to look at five of my favourite apps for the Transformer Infinity that really take advantage of the quad-core CPU, 1920×1600 resolution, and Super IPS+ screen.

Pulse News: For an information hound like me, there isn’t a better news aggregator than Pulse. Unlike other aggregators, Pulse beautifies the news feeds by tiling photos and text in an interface that really shows off  the Infinity’s high-resolution screen.

ComicRack: My favourite and without doubt the best comic reader around. ComicRack not only reads the usual .cbz and .cbr formats, but it can also read .pdf and .djvu files, and convert one format to another. It even has a library management feature to better organize large comic collections, and comes at an unbeatable price – free.

Autodesk Sketchbook Express/Pro: If doodling is your thing, look no further than Sketchbook Express and its paid brethren Sketchbook Pro. Loaded with drawing tools like pencil, paintbrush and airbrush, Sketchbook allows you to mix both vector and bitmap graphics. This means that both photos and freehand sketches can be used in the artwork – just like in the TV ads.

RawDroid: While the 8-megapixel camera on the Infinity is perfect for personal and social purposes, professional photographers will still use their DSLRs. With RawDroid, photographers who in the past had to carry a laptop to edit photos can now fine tune their pictures in a handy package thanks to the Infinity’s quad-core CPU. The app supports 17 professional camera formats including Nikon and Canon.

Adobe Photoshop Touch: A slimmed down version of Photoshop, the industry standard photo editing software, Photoshop Touch comes with most of the common features loved in Photoshop, including layers, filters, selection tools, and adjustments. Though a paid app for the pros, Photoshop Touch allows you to directly share photos on Facebook and search and download images from Google Image Search.

There are, of course, many more apps out there that can test Transformer Infinity’s silicon-power. We will be sharing more with you soon. Which are your favorites?
