It’s been three months since the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas where we first laid eyes on the ASUS Eee PC T101MT and now we’ve finally got our grubby paws on it.

First thing you’ll notice about the Eee PC T101MT is the build quality; it has a sturdy feel to it. Sure, at 1.3kg, it is not the lightest Eee PC around, but bear in mind that it is still a netbook, with the added bonus of a tablet built-in. The display flips up and around to convert the ASUS T101MT into a tablet – all this in a form factor that is around an inch thick.

The ASUS T101MT comes with Multi-touch functionalities on its 10.1” touchscreen and touchpad. With it, it lets me manipulate and pinch-zoom images or scroll through documents and webpages with two fingers.

The T101MT also comes with an onscreen keyboard for those who want to take advantage of its responsive touch screen. Those with fat fingers might want to opt for the accompanying stylus that is cleverly hidden in its bezel though. There is also a handwriting recognition feature, PenWrite technology lets you take down notes naturally, and with it I felt as if I was working on a slightly thicker clipboard.

Under the hood, the ASUS T101MT packs a punch. It comes with an Intel Atom N450 processor with 2GB RAM. When put together with the ASUS-exclusive Super Hybrid Engine power management system, the ASUS T101MT delivers over 6 hours of battery life on a single charge. In addition, it comes with a 320GB hard drive that is supplemented by an additional 500GB of online storage space with ASUS WebStorage.
