Bigger. Brighter. Better. That’s what ASUS promises consumers with the launch of the VG278H 3D monitor. This gargantuan 27” LED display comes with the latest 3D goodies to come from NVIDIA —3D Vision™ 2 glasses and 3D LightBoost™ technology.

Those miracle workers have worked their magic; with the newly launched 3D LightBoost™ technology doubling the intensity of the 3D images produced by the VG278H without increasing its demands on the power grid. The think tanks at ASUS have given it some new technology of their own as well with Trace Free II technology combining 120Hz refresh rates and 2ms gray-to-gray response times to double the frames per second to give vivid, stutter-free visuals. Ghosting and brightline effects are also eliminated by the reduced LCD charging times brought about by Advanced Dual-side LCD Driving Technology.

The VG278H display comes with an adjustable 3D signal emitter that can be aimed directly at the shutter glasses to optimize signal reception. To eliminate interference from nearby electronic devices, signal mode can also be switched between three 3D infrared modes. The accompanying pair of redesigned 3D Vision 2 shutter glasses come with its own light-blocking visor and viewing lenses that are 20 percent larger.

ASUS engineers have put the VG278H through its paces, and with the help of Photoshop’s Gamma adjustment, the display optimizes colors through its Theater, Night View, Scenery, Gaming, sRGB, and Standard modes.

An array of entertainment options, including web-based video streams, Blu-ray movies, and over 550 popular PC and console gaming titles, can be viewed in 3D.  The VG278H can be connected to a PC via a dual-link DVI-D and D-sub, and the HDMI 1.4 port caters to Blu-ray players and game consoles.
