It’s hard to not get excited when you see the hype and drama building up around Mobile World Congress every year. It’s one big mobile phone party and everyone gets to enjoy the fun. Many of us don’t need to do all the hard work of walking, talking, discovering and meeting, we need only take a peek at the news to see what lovely new bits and pieces are coming in.

Already this week we’ve seen the ASUS Mobile World Congress trailer with a giant alien spaceship landing in Barcelona, and ASUS have their press conference scheduled for 25 February 2013 – that’s Monday to you and me. There is a lot of speculation about what they are planning on announcing next week, but one thing’s for sure, the media are excited.

The event has grown steadily since it first moved to Barcelona in 2006 and now some of the big names like Google and Samsung have actually lessened their presence so as to not be lost in the noise. Certainly the amount of hype and the volume of products released makes it something of a mind blowing experience, but I tend to believe that if it is good, it will stay in the public eye.

It’s not just the journalists attending MWC that are excited by what ASUS have up their sleeve this year. I am too. It looks like there are going to be some big boots stomping up and down the product announcement scene and I, for one, can’t wait to see what they will be carrying. Are you ready for the biggest smartphone event of the year?

I will be staying on top of the news and following the events closely so expect to see all the latest and greatest Mobile World Congress and ASUS info right here.
