The ASUS VivoBook Series could very well be the entry point for those of who are looking for a brand new machine as their first foray onto the Windows 8 platform. Attractive, durable, and portable, the VivoBook S200 and S400 models sport 11.6” and 14” touchscreen displays respectively, and integrate ASUS SonicMaster audio as well as 2-second instant on capabilities.

If we were to use a single word to describe the VivoBook Series, that would have to be – Touch. Right from the get-go, the VivoBook has been design to optimize the Windows 8 experience through its multi-touch display and larger touchpad with ASUS Smart Gesture technology. The smaller of the two, the S200, even incorporates a touchpad size more commonly found on larger 14” notebooks.
Available with processors that run all the way up to Intel® Core™ i7, the VivoBooks feature 2-second instant on from sleep mode for smartphone-like responses. The S200 even boasts of a 15 day standby time.
The VivoBook comes with ASUS SonicMaster technology to provide a wider range, deeper bass, and more distinct vocals. ASUS audio specialists, collectively known as the Golden Ear team, provide a combination of optimized hardware and software to deliver immersive sound. This time round, we even see the addition of the Technical Grammy award-winning MaxxAudio sound processing tool.
But enough talk; let’s see it in greater detail.

Hector
A former tech journalist with a local daily, Hector is an anomaly in the world of tech writers—he’s a skeptic, preferring to ask “Do we really need another (insert gadget here)?” instead of “I gotta have that new toy.” As a result, he often finds himself owning these gadgets only a year after their release. He wishes things were a whole lot simpler, like they were back in the 60s, even though he wasn’t even born then. Perhaps that explains why he’s dressed like the Fonz. Ayyyy!!
